Festival highlights
The activities and events organised each year during the Festilitt festival. The colour codes are shown on the day-by-day programme of the festival.
Authors’ talks and book signings
10 French and English-speaking authors will discuss and read from their latest books, answering readers’ questions about the stories as well as the influences behind them. At the end of each session, the authors are happy to sign copies of their books, which are on sale throughout the festival.
“Lecture musicale”
An event that blends music, literature and theatre, to delight your senses and
that unites the francophone and anglophone audiences.
Lunches and dinners with the authors
The conversations continue over dinner on Saturday night and, with each author hosting a table, it’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know the people behind the books.
Book sales
All of the books presented at the festival will be on sale throughout the weekend. We also have an Aladdin’s cave of good-quality, recent second-hand books, enabling you to restock your bookshelves at bargain prices.
Children’s Festilitt
With workshops, storytelling and shows, Festilitt engages all of the village children, from the very youngest at the creche to oldest primary school pupils, hopefully stimulating a lasting love of books.
Authors’ coup de coeur
Learn more about what has inspired our authors, as they present their own literary “coup de cœur” sharing with us a book that has really touched, or influenced them, maybe even triggering them to be a writer.
French Dictée
We celebrate the nuances and mysteries of the written French language through a dictation exercise with a short literary text. All lovers of French grammar, sharpen your pencils and take a step back into the classroom !
Art Exhibition
Our exhibition features original works of arts by French and British artists, inspired by the titles of each year’s festival books. All works of art are for sale, along with greetings cards of each image and the art work will be on display throughout weekend, with an opening on Friday evening. This year we will also have an artist in residence. The wonderful graphic novelist Joff Winterhart will be busy drawing key moments, meetings and conversations throughout the whole weekend, giving us a fabulous pictorial record.
