About the festival…
Created in 2013, Festilitt was born out of a desire to bring the French and English-speaking communities together around a shared love of reading and literature. It is held every year in mid-October in Parisot, a small village in the Quercy-Rouergue region, at the crossroads of Tarn-et-Garonne, Lot and Aveyron.
For more than ten years now, a number of writers have been sharing their art of writing and their love of reading.
While the festival has had the honour of welcoming some well-known writers, it is also a place of discovery…
Festilitt is an original festival. It is driven by a singular spirit: far removed from urban areas, its aim is to invite French- and English-speaking writers to Parisot, a village in the Tarn-et-Garonne region (82). Over the course of a weekend, a dozen or so authors meet up with the public to talk about their latest book in their own language, as well as discussing their writing and reading practices, and sharing their world and their view of the world.
Each year in October, there’s no set theme, but a common thread runs through the festival: inspiring a taste for words and reading, through fiction, thrillers, poetry, essays, travelogues, photography and music. Meetings and book signings, as well as musical readings, children’s workshops, second-hand book sales and an art exhibition with art work based on a particular book are all part of the programme. And let’s not forget the literary breakfasts and cafés and our delicious gourmet breaks…
Free and friendly, Festilitt is open to everyone, young and old!
